Meet our Chief Medical Officer
David A. Kent, MD
David A. Kent, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 35 years of clinical, administrative, and academic experience. He currently serves as Chief Medical Officer for multiple remote mental health clinics, including California-based practices offering psychotherapy, medication management, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Dr. Kent earned his medical degree and completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (1986–1990). There he trained under leading figures in American psychiatry, including Dr. Nancy Andreasen, Dr. George Winokur, Dr. William Coryell, and Dr. Donald W. Black. He conducted research on conversion disorder at Iowa from 1987 to 1995. For 16 years, Dr. Kent served as Medical Director of a 22-bed geriatric psychiatric inpatient unit in Boise, Idaho — the largest of its kind at the time. He led clinical care for medically complex older adults and guided patients and families through difficult end-of-life decisions. He also practices as a staff psychiatrist at Cottonwood Creek Behavioral Hospital in Meridian, Idaho. Dr. Kent is the founder of NuMe TMS Clinics in Garden City, Idaho, and has contributed to multi-site BrainsWay Deep TMS research for obsessive-compulsive disorder since 2017. As CMO, he has built California-specific policies and procedures covering provider supervision, TMS protocols, telehealth standards, and HIPAA compliance, giving clinics a clear framework for safe, consistent care across locations. His expert witness practice in psychiatric malpractice cases gives him a practical command of standard of care, risk management, and documentation. He brings that lens to every clinic he oversees. Dr. Kent is the author of Why Me? The Brain on Tilt: A Psychiatrist's Guide to Understanding Mental Illness and Recovery (2nd Edition) and Ask Why? Medical Ethics 101. He speaks regularly to clinicians, caseworkers, and community groups, including the Oregon Health Authority, on mental illness, recovery, and medical ethics. He is based in Eagle, Idaho, and leads his California teams through a combination of remote oversight and on-site engagement.
